Core Executive Standard: ASTM A563/A563M-24 ASTM A563/A563M-24 is a standard specification for carbon steel and alloy steel nuts issued by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM). It covers both metric and inch sizes, with the 2024 version being the current valid edition. This standard has been approved by U.S. Department of Defense agencies and complies with international standardization principles recognized by the WTO/TBT Committee.
- Scope of Application: Specifies the chemical composition, mechanical properties, and dimensional requirements for 11 grades of nuts, designed to mate with externally threaded fasteners such as bolts and studs used in general structural and mechanical applications.
- Unit Specification: Metric (SI) and inch-pound units are each regarded as standard, and mixed use is prohibited to ensure compatibility and compliance.
- Grade Substitution: Suppliers may provide nuts of higher strength grades specified in this standard to substitute lower-grade ones, provided that there are no substitution prohibition clauses in the inquiry and purchase order.

Notes on Usage
Grade Substitution:
It is strictly prohibited to substitute GR.8S for GR.10S in ultra-high-load and highly corrosive scenarios; GR.10S can be used as a downward substitute for GR.8S, but the cost rationality should be considered.
Heat Treatment Taboo:
GR.10S shall not be subjected to high-temperature heating again after aging treatment, otherwise, its strength will decrease. During assembly, avoid high-temperature welding operations near the nut.
Surface Maintenance:
After use in corrosive environments, regularly clean impurities and salt deposits on the nut surface to avoid accumulation of corrosive media and extend the service life.
Storage Requirements:
Store separately in a dry and well-ventilated warehouse, avoid mixed storage with carbon steel parts to prevent surface corrosion caused by electrochemical corrosion.
