Product Introduction
DIN 934 / ISO 8673 fine hex nut, property class 12, 35CrMoA quenched and tempered, plain finish with no plating. Across flats 13 mm, height 6.5 mm. Proof load stress 1200 MPa; thread tolerance 6H. The 1 mm fine pitch provides more engaged threads within the same nut height than the M8 coarse version, distributing load more evenly and resisting thread stripping under high axial tension – a common failure mode in small hydraulic connections.
Functions and Purposes
The uncoated quenched surface is preferred in hydraulic and fuel systems because it eliminates the risk of coating particles flaking off and contaminating valves, pumps, or injectors. It also avoids the dimensional build-up of a zinc layer, which can alter the torque-tension relationship and complicate assembly of close-tolerance banjo bolts and hollow screws. The high proof load allows the nut to generate the clamping force needed to seal metal-to-metal joints on valve blocks and manifolds. Because the nut is not galvanized, it must be protected from external moisture; however, in its intended environment – continuously oil-wetted or grease-packed assemblies – it provides years of reliable service without corrosion. The fine thread's anti-loosening character reduces the need for chemical threadlockers, further lowering the risk of contamination in clean hydraulic circuits. Typical locations include mobile hydraulic manifolds, brake line brackets, and fuel system fasteners on small diesel engines, where leakage is unacceptable and vibration is continuous.
