Working Principle Of Nuts

Dec 08, 2025

The working principle of a nut is self-locking through the friction between the nut and the bolt. However, the reliability of this self-locking decreases under dynamic loads. In some critical situations, we take measures to prevent loosening and ensure the reliability of the nut's tightening. Using a lock nut is one such measure.

Fasteners come in different sizes and thread counts. Generally, Chinese and German standards use "M" to indicate specifications (e.g., M8, M16), while American and British standards use fractions or "#" to indicate specifications (e.g., 8#, 10#, 1/4, 3/8). Nuts are parts that tightly connect mechanical equipment through their internal threads. Only nuts and bolts of the same specifications can be connected together.
