Product Introduction
In a wind turbine, the pitch bearing links each blade to the hub. Its inner ring must be held with a defined compressive load so the bearing turns without play but also without excess rolling resistance. The M24 × 2 fine hex nut, manufactured to ISO 8673 (the fine series formerly covered by DIN 934), strength grade 12, from through-hardened chromium-molybdenum steel 35CrMoA, performs this duty. It is supplied bare, without electroplating, because the hub interior is filled with lubricating grease; any coating could contaminate the grease or alter friction at the seating face.
Functions and Purposes
The 2 mm pitch gives finer axial travel than the coarse 3 mm thread: one rotation moves the nut only 2 mm, so technicians can set bearing clearance accurately. Spanner opening 36 mm, overall thickness 19 mm. Guaranteed minimum proof stress 1200 N/mm², 6H class of fit. The absence of plating removes any danger of hydrogen-induced cracking, which matters greatly for a highly stressed fastener in a remote location. The nut sits inside a sealed, grease-lubricated hub, so rust prevention comes from the lubricant film. Compared with the coarse M24, this fine version demands cleaner threads and better concentricity, but it resists oscillatory loosening far better and gives repeatable clamp force. That is why it is chosen for pitch bearings, where a loose nut could damage the blade and cause costly downtime.
