Product Introduction
Square taper washers, also known as square bevel washers, are specialized structural washers widely used for sloped steel beam connections. The two most common standards are DIN 434 (8% taper for U-channel / C-channel) and IS6649 (14% taper for I-beam). The tapered face compensates for the natural slope on the flange of section steel, providing a flat, level bearing surface for bolt heads and nuts. This keeps the bolt under pure axial tension and prevents bolt bending, fatigue or loose connections in structural bolting jobs.
Unlike ordinary round flat washers, its square shape offers a larger bearing area to spread clamping load and avoid local indentation on steel profiles. Most styles come with marking grooves on the surface to quickly identify the taper direction for easy on-site installation.
